going to distance

So, we Cycled 3500km in 52days – delightfully, that’s the same as London (England) to Timbuktu (Mali)!

We then went on to Drive our little Van 9500km in 53 days (London to Hong Kong)

Finale

After the Great Ocean Road we headed up to Geelong, a town to completely skip if you trust the Lonely Planet - of course we know better than that - and spent a couple of days there exploring the local biking scene.
For our last ride in Australia we found the perfect spot, soft grass, winding trails, a cool wide stream with stepping stones across it, which for the brave is passable on bike. We spent half an hour getting our bike into perfect condition. Brakes: Check. Gears: Check!
As we rolled out of the car park Ann managed to go over the handle bars without reason or warning breaking her derailleur and ending the days ride before it began! - odd. goodbye Oz.

We've been messing around in Melbourne for the last few days catching up with the family and sorting out all the rubbish we collected while in the van. We managed to double our kit in the final two weeks. The bicycles have been shipped off seperately but I think we're still over our baggage allowance.

We even manged to squeeze in a trip to the infamous MCG to catch a game of AFL, Aussie Rules 'football'. A very pleasant and confusing experience. One of the great chacteristics of the game is that you can imagine a humble beginning; A couple of kids messing around at the park with a semi inflated ball playing one touch rugby. Years later they're 7foot tall & whose going to argue?

We're stopping off in Singapore and Dubai, then returning to the UK... So we'll see y'all on our return. We'll post a few more pics on here on our return. Maybe a 'best of Oz'.

We will continue this page for either our next adventure, or future bike trips - stay in touch.

now you'll have to find another webpage to visit while you should be working - I suggest this one ......Yodelling Girl. (click here)

Bikes only i thought!?

Mt Gambier, built on a ancient volcano (coincidently also called Mt Gambier) and home of The Blue Lake; apparently it’s grey most of the year and then turns to an exquisite blue almost over night.

Perfect for an afternoon stroll you’d think, but no it’s actually perfect for some super fun mountain biking. Again, purpose built mountain bike ONLY trails with the odd log across your path (some people think that’s funny).

Of course, logs are the least of our worries, on our last outing; we twisted and turned through an over cast forest picking up speed and confidence. John thought he could handle anything nature could throw at him.... As he disappeared round a corner, all i heard was a scream and the sound of a bike churning up mud - moments earlier John had run headlong into an Emu!

As we slowly backed away more and more prehistoric heads popped up out of the bush, and stared at the new intruders.
Slowly they grew bored of looking at us and disappeared as silently as they had arrived.
